Lafayette couple faces hurdles in quest for new home

LAFAYETTE — Plans for a large home on a vacant parcel in Lafayette are not sitting well with some residents and city leaders.

Planning commissioners and residents voiced concerns this week about a proposed 10,000-square-foot house that would sit on about 13 hillside acres off Monticello Road.

Worries about construction traffic and noise, project size, the home’s visibility along the Lafayette ridgeline and its proximity to a gas pipeline were among the issues raised in letters and public comments at the Dec. 5 planning commission.

This is not the first time owners Steven and Linda Wight have sought a permit for a new home.
