A lot of people reading this know Clint Miller, and know that he is in a brutal battle with testicular cancer.
If you don’t know Clint, you’re missing out on knowing a world-class human being.
The Clint Miller Prayer/Support Board on Facebook has been filled with close to 1,200 posts from friends, and countless more comments and “likes” – all expressing hope and support for Clint and his family as they go through some really rough times.
Earlier today Clint posted and Tweeted that he would love to meet Lance Armstrong. Swiftly, many of Clint’s supporters began messaging Lance Armstrong, who as you know also fought testicular cancer, beat it, and went on to win the Tour de France seven times. Meeting Lance is the ultimate goal, but how cool would it be if Lance would take a second out of his ridiculously busy day to send Clint a message. Maybe a Tweet that just said “hang in there”?

Lance Armstrong is a class act.
What you have here is a demonstration of the potential of Twitter and social media to do good things. Sure, it’s just a 24 second video, but Lance didn’t have to do this. Given what Lance went through in his own battle against this insidious disease, I suspect he knows more than most of us just what this message means to Clint. I don’t know if Lance knows what this meant to Clint’s friends, but I can assure you it means a great deal to us too.
I’ve been a long-time Lance Armstrong fan from his days prior to his victories in France. He’s been maligned in the press as one who uses performance enhancing drugs. Please, spare me the arguments. The man is the most drug tested human in all of recorded history, and he’s passed every. single. test. Yeah, he was a freaking animal on the bike, but that came from some God-given talent and an insane work ethic – and he applies that work ethic now to helping eradicate cancer via his LIVESTRONG foundation
Yes, Twitter and social media can at times seem stupid, pointless and a waste of energy. But when these mediums can bring together two complete strangers, connected by an awful disease, one who’s been there and another going through it, then that is a pretty amazing thing.
It’s powerful stuff.
And it sure is nice to see that a world-class athlete and philanthropist can take a few moments to make someone’s day.
